“Expressions” of colored pencil art open through Nov. 9 in the Padzieski Gallery

Established in 1990, the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), has grown throughout the U.S. with a membership which also includes other countries from around the world. The Midwest Chapter is presenting their latest work“Expressions,” a juried competition at Dearborn’s Padzieski Art Gallery through Nov. 9 with a special Artist’s Reception /Opening Party & Awards Ceremony open to the public and with refreshments offered on Thursday, Oct. 18 from 7-9 p.m.

The judge for this show is Bonnie Auten. Auten is a multi-award winning Colored Pencil artist whose work is featured online and in various books, magazines and other publications. She believes art should be rendered well, but should serve as a window into the personality and perspective of the artist.  It is her philosophy that “Fine art must catch the eye and hold the heart.”

Colored Pencil art is experiencing a whole new level of appreciation throughout the art world. The sophistication and creative potential expressed in this medium is exciting for artists and art lovers world-wide. The DCAC and the Padzieski Art gallery are proud to bring this art form back to Dearborn following the success of last year’s “Glorious Color” exhibit. All awards will be announced at the Artist’s Reception and Opening Party on Oct. 18.
