“Inspired By” is at Dearborn’s Padzieski Art Gallery inside of the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center Sept. 7- 27. The opening reception is Thursday, Sept. 7 from 6-8 p.m.
The Ford Community and Performing Arts Center is located at 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.
Mary’s Artists represents more than 20 artists who attend weekly life studio sessions at Step Studios. Mary Step’s Studio was founded 10 years ago when Barbara Eko Murphy and Mary Step met at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center and formed a life drawing group. Mary provides the studio, hires models and collects costumes and props. Barbara leads, coordinates and encourages the artists to show their art in solo and juried art shows. Mary’s Artists celebrate their mix of gender, age, religion, heritage, education, and other differences blending creatively to form a unique art community and studio experience. All of these artists share a passion for this community found at Mary Step’s Studio and for the importance of painting from life.
All this and more will be discussed at “Art & Appetizers,” an entertaining and informal FREE Gallery Talk on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served as several of Mary’s Artists, including Janet Kondziela and Susan Perrish, discuss their contributions to the exhibition.
The DCAC’s regular monthly Gallery Art Talk program “Art & Appetizers” provides an opportunity for art lovers and enthusiasts to learn what motivates creative people to express themselves whether through the study of art or through life experiences. The Padzieski Gallery (313-943-5377) is free and open Tuesday through Friday from 12-6 p.m.
