Seeking Submissions for 22nd Annual Juried Photography Exhibition

The Dearborn Community Arts Council is proud to present the 22nd annual Juried Photography Exhibition, set for Feb. 1-28 at the Padzieski Gallery.

The gallery is located inside of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.

The exhibition is sponsored by photo and video gear store ProCam of Livonia.

Amateur and professional photographers alike are invited to submit their works for consideration in the show.

ELIGIBILITY AND CONDITIONS:

  • Open to both amateur & professional photographers
  • Jurying will be from actual work (no slides, websites, etc.)
  • Juried work must be dropped off between 12-7 p.m. Jan. 17 and 18
  • The DCAC and the City of Dearborn are responsible for works on city premises, but not for work delivered early, in damaged condition or left after the close of the exhibit.
  • We reserve the right to determine qualifying categories.

JURY AND ENTRY FEE:

  • $20 per entry (first 2), & $10 (entries after first 2)
  • You may submit up to two entries in each category at $20 for the first 2, then $10 per photograph.
  • ENTRY FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

ENTRY PROCEDURES:

  • Artists submitting photographs for this exhibit must complete the entry form and checklist, sign the form, attach a label to the back of each piece and enclose the correct entry fee. Your label must include artist’s name, title, category, price.
  • All prints must be framed under glass or plexiglass and be ready for hanging with attached wire.
  • Size is limited to 36 inches by 36 inches, including frame

Photographers are responsible for delivery and pick up of their work. ALL work must be picked up after the exhibition by March 1, 2017 between 1-6 p.m.

HAND DELIVERY AND PICKUP OF ENTRIES:

You may deliver your framed photos on Jan. 17-18 between 12-7 p.m. No mail-in entries will be accepted. NO WORK will be accepted BEFORE Jan. 17 at 12 p.m. or AFTER 7 p.m. on Jan. 18, 2016.

Deliver entries to the Padzieski Art Gallery inside the Ford Community Performing Arts Center, located at 15801 Michigan Avenue Dearborn MI, 48126.  Call 313-943-3095 with any questions.

PICK UP: All accepted work must be picked up between 1-6 p.m. March 1 AFTER the close of the exhibit. Any accepted or declined work NOT picked up by 6 p.m. March 1 becomes DCAC property.

DECLINED WORK:

Participants will be notified by email if their work is declined.  A return response will be requested. All declined work must be picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 19 between 12-7 p.m.

SALES / GALLERY COMMISSIONS:

A 30 percent commission will be charged on all sales made during the exhibition. Please price work accordingly. All purchases to remain in gallery during exhibition.

OPENING RECEPTION:

The Opening Party & Reception with Awards will be held Wednesday, Feb. 1 2016 from 6-8 p.m. The Reception & Exhibition are free to attend.


Artists Among Us Opens Oct. 21

“Artists Among Us,” an all-media juried art competition and exhibition, returns to the Padzieski Gallery Oct. 21-Nov. 13.

The gallery is located inside of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn.

Hosted by the Wayne County Council for the Arts, History and Humanities, with support from the Dearborn Community Arts Council, the annual show features works of all mediums. Artworks are submitted for consideration, and accepted for inclusion in the show by a panel of jurors from the WCCAHH Exhibition Committee.

The community is invited to come and see the accepted works, including the winners chosen by the committee!

About the WCCAHH: The purpose of the Council is to act in cooperation with Wayne County arts and humanities organizations, federal, state and local governments to increase knowledge, understanding, appreciation and support of arts and humanities programs. The goal is to enhance the quality of life throughout Wayne County while simultaneously fostering and preserving an appreciation of the diverse culture, history and art of Wayne County.

The Council is governed by a volunteer, geographically diverse board of arts and cultural professionals. The council coordinates two on-going major projects to meet its purpose. Artists Among Us is an exhibition opportunity for artists throughout Wayne County, 18 years and older. The Annual Recognition Awards program honors artists, performers, educators, patrons and organizations for their efforts & contributions to enriching the cultural life of Wayne County.

Requirements and Rules

Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all persons 18 and older who live, work or attend  educational institutions in Wayne County.

Entry Fee: The entry fee of $20 each is non-refundable. Each artist may submit up to two pieces. Entry fees are payable to  WCCAHH.

Sales:  WCCAHH retains a 30 percent commission. Michigan sales tax is collected on all sales. Artists will receive payment within 30 days after the exhibit closes.

Delivery: Works will be delivered to the Padzieski Gallery during the times specified on the Exhibition Calendar (see below). Artists wishing to ship work are responsible for meeting the deadline and assume all shipping costs.

Pick-up: Artwork not claimed within two weeks of the designated pick-up date will be deemed abandoned and will become the property of the DCAC.

Entry requirements: Two dimensional artwork no larger than 24x36 including frame must be ready to hang including finished framing and a wire attached hanging device. Work not ready to hang, as determined by input staff, will be rejected.

All artwork must be labeled on the backside for 2D work or on the bottom for 3D with:

  • Artist's Name
  • Address, City, Zip code
  • Daytime Phone & Email
  • Artwork Title
  • Medium, Dimensions, Price

Liability: WCCAHH and the Padzieski Art Gallery are not responsible for loss or damage. Every precaution is taken to assure protection of the work.

Exhibition Calendar

  • Oct.19, 12-6 p.m.: Artwork is submitted for jurying at the Padzieski Art Gallery.
  • Oct. 20: Artists will be notified only if their work has been rejected.
  • Oct. 21: Exhibit Opens. Artists Reception  TBA
  • Nov. 13: Exhibit Closes
  • Nov. 13, 4-7 p.m.: Pick up artwork
